The Cross

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship,
to the breaking of bread and to prayer.  Then he said to them all:
“Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves
and take up their cross daily and follow me.
Luke 9:23

This Chrismon is simply a cross.  Simply! maybe not so simple.  What does it mean to each of us to deny ourselves and to take up our cross daily and follow Jesus?

That question can only be answered by each one of us.  Like the disciples do I know the answer to this request?  Or is it request?  No I think it is a truth that I must follow in my daily life.  It is coming to a place of surrender to the will of Christ and not my will.

Reading the word and then following through with acts of discipleship each day.  What that looks like comes from worshiping, praying, listening, serving and loving each day.

Do I read the scripture each day, be in ceaseless prayer, love and serve others?  I try each day but some days I fail.  But I know Jesus is always here to guide, support, and love me.  I am never alone.
